Grilled Sesame Tuna Avocado Salad
Grilled sesame tuna avocado salad. This is one of those dishes you will want on repeat weekly. Healthy, but uber satisfying. Simple, but feels elevated.
RECIPE
Ingredients:
2-3 small tuna steaks
avocado oil
salt
pepper
1-2 ripe avocados (use 1 if large, use 2 if small-medium)
1 pint of cherry tomatoes
1 bunch of green onions
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 lime, juiced
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1/2 tsp red chili flakes (add more to taste)
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
Sesame seeds (I used white but could use either, or both!)
Optional: 1 tsp wasabi paste
Instructions:
Preheat grill on high heat and wipe down with high temperature oil
Using a basting brush, cover tuna steaks in avocado oil and then liberally cover with salt & pepper
Grill for about 3-5 minutes each side (you want the inside to still be pink, but outside cooked and with grill marks)
Set aside tuna to cool.
Whisk honey, soy sauce, lime juice, toasted sesame oil, red chili flakes, and rice wine vinegar in a bowl. If you have wasabi on hand and like that kick, add 1 tsp. Make sure to taste dressing before hand, as this will go directly on salad.
Cut avocado in small cubes, slice tomatoes long ways, finely chop green part of green onions, and toss everything into a large bowl.
Once tuna is close to room temperature, cut into small cubes (about 1 inch size). Add to the bowl with other ingredients.
Pour about 1/2 of dressing and toss salad, depending on how well you like your salad dressed add more to taste (I ended up using about 3/4 of the dressing).
Sprinkle entire salad with the sesame seeds and serve!
